Unconventional Studio Setup
This is my studio setup. Let’s start by saying my studio is my guest bedroom. Like the room, everything else is things I already had around the house.
Background: Different color bed sheets hung on the wall with command hooks and binder clips.
Lights: $5 desk light from 5 BELOW, $10 IKEA floor lamp.
Wood stool and TV tray, as surface usually covered with a white canvas (from painting class).
Medicine ball, so I can photograph lower without having to bend over.
Stool, when I need to go even lower.
Tripod, it was around $60 which is relatively cheap for one. Not gonna lie this is the only thing I may invest on because it is not the easiest to maneuver. I think, that is what you pay for and I think it will be worth it. I will say this I am to blame for some of the problems had at the beginning. 🙃 I will update if I make the investment.
Eduardo (husband/reason I am able to go on this endeavor) wanted to get me fancy lights when I started with studio photography but I didn’t think I was gonna like it. I got whatever I could find and jumped right in. When I realized I liked it, he again suggested I should get actual studio lights, I again said no. I like my low budget setup. Not saying I’m never gonna update but for now I enjoy the challenge it presents. I look forward to trying other ways in which I can make normal objects make cool lighting. The last photograph was taken in my studio. I think it’s good. I hope other people do too.
